How to use it
The top box shows the current Unix timestamp in seconds and milliseconds, updating live; the Copy button copies the value.
- Enter a number in the “Timestamp” field. The unit is detected automatically: up to 11 digits is seconds, 12–14 digits is milliseconds, more is microseconds. You can also pick the unit manually.
- You get the date in UTC and in your local time, the ISO 8601 string and a relative time (for example “3 days ago”).
- In “Date to timestamp”, pick a date and time and a time zone (local or UTC) to get seconds and milliseconds.
When it helps
A Unix timestamp is the number of seconds since 1 January 1970 00:00:00 UTC. It is used in databases, logs, API responses and JWT tokens because it does not depend on a time zone.
A common mistake is mixing up seconds and milliseconds: JavaScript’s Date.now() returns milliseconds, while many servers use seconds. Automatic detection helps you spot this quickly.
