How to use it
Choose metric (cm and kg) or imperial (feet, inches and pounds), then enter height and weight. The result updates immediately: you see the BMI value, the category and the weight range that corresponds to a BMI of 18.5 to 24.9 at your height.
How BMI is calculated
BMI = weight (kg) divided by height (m) squared. For adults the WHO cut-offs are:
- below 18.5: underweight;
- 18.5–24.9: normal weight;
- 25.0–29.9: overweight;
- 30.0–34.9: obesity class I;
- 35.0–39.9: obesity class II;
- 40.0 and above: obesity class III.
Good to know
BMI is a screening tool, not a diagnosis. It does not separate muscle from fat or account for body composition, age or sex, so it can be misleading for athletes, children, older adults or pregnant women. These figures are not medical advice; for health questions, talk to a doctor.
